How exciting to be writing our first Blog post on our first website. Dreams do come true:)
Doone and I have been exploring the idea of a community on this land since we bought it 4 years ago, but as with all life processes there is a timing and a journey. We knew we were on the move when we finally found a piece of legislation called the State Environmental Planning Policy 15:Rural Landshare Communities  which really covered so much of what we wanted to bring to fruition.
We have been increasingly concerned at how difficult it is for people to have affordable housing and the strain it puts on families when both parents have to work to pay huge mortgages. As a therapist I constantly hear how time poor people are and how they wish they could find a way out of the rat race.
We certainly intend for Bindarrabi to be a place where families can re-empower themselves and make decisions that nurture, not destroy the amazing privilege of being a human being.
A couple of weeks ago we had our first meeting with the Tenterfield Shire Council and received very supportive feedback. Our next step is to have consultant reports on Fire, Waste and any Environmental concerns. Hopefully that will occur in the next couple of weeks.

I'll keep you posted

Carol

Hi Carol and Doone,
Doone just gave me your website, so goodluck with your beautiful piece of Australia and plans that will give some people a garden of Eden.
We live at Albury, but don't know our future and our families are all mainly here so at this stage can't see us moving anywhere, ... unless the whole lot of us moved, ... and I don't think Coralie's, Mum and sisters would move.
What would be the cost of leasing ? the 2 acres, etc., just for future reference ?
Regards, Ray Williams

Hi Carol and Doone, I'm so happy to hear of your plans. I didn't realize that you guys had so much land, nor that you were intending to create a community on it. I drove through the region a couple of years ago and it's beautiful. I look forward to speaking with you about it all when I get home again in November. Lots of Love to you both, Fiona xo

WooHoo. How exciting that you've reached this point. Congratulations on your amazing achievement. Dean and I are most interested (as we always have been)and will definitely be there for the November weekend. When we first met Dean was not quite ready for the concept but as life has progressed he is very ready now. It's all about timing. Look forward to seeing you both soon.
