The land we call Bindarrabi comes from the joining of two indigenous words meaning deep pool (Binda) and high mountain (Narrabri). The land has a majestic, custodial mountain on one side and a defining gorge on the other. This land has never been settled apart from some transient loggers and has a purity and beauty that evokes respect.
As we face the future it is imperative that we rethink and restructure how we live. At Bindarrabi we will be exploring ways of living and working that address managing our land and lives in a sustainable manner using permaculture and organic principles to enhance all life systems into the future. Bindarrabi Community aims to enable affordable housing with meaningful and fulfilling livelihood with mutual respect and consideration for each other and the land. Our vision is for a dynamic, creative community using renewable resources and natural energy systems, providing much of our own food and bringing beauty and excellence to all fields of endeavour. |
